Knowledge, like air,
is vital to life.
Like air, no one should be denied it.
Welcome to the new bite sized qualification pathway that formally acknowledges skills and training at a level that other qualifications do not.
Micro-credentials are, at their core, certified recognition for developing skills in specific areas. Using micro-credentials, employers can quickly ascertain and confirm that an employee, (existing or a potential employee), has the skills required for a role.
It is simply not doing the same thing differently, it is about doing things differently!
Otago Polytechnic is the leading tertiary education provider for micro-credentials in New Zealand.
They launched their micro-credential service, EduBits, in 2018 after liaising with NZQA. Otago Polytechnic and NZQA jointly award micro-credential EduBits.
The Let's Work and Education Unlimited micro-credentials are recognized EduBits.
In 2018, Education Unlimited won the Skills Highway Inaugural Innovation Award for their Write Up, Speak up, Be Safe micro-credential EduBit.
'Write Up, Speak Up, Be Safe' micro-credential is a meaningful vehicle for people working across all construction related industries.
It allows people to acquire the core literacy, language (communication) and digital skills required to be able to keep themselves and others safe at work in New Zealand.
This is targeted training for people who are often undervalued and who lack the confidence to speak up in an unsafe situation.
